Album Review: American Hi-Fi - Blood And Lemonade

"You can turn it up loud without offending even your most conservative neighbours"

Self-described as “balls-to-the-wall guitar rock mixed with power-pop sensibilities”, the emphasis of Blood And Lemonade is purely on the pop. If you squint and look real hard, you might find a hint of power, but there’s very little in the way of balls. American Hi-Fi write glisteningly pristine pop, then layer the production to homogenise things that little bit more. None of that is necessarily a bad thing – just don’t go into this album expecting any edge or authenticity. It’s pop, and you can turn it up loud without offending even your most conservative neighbours.
