All Our Exes Live In TexasThe utterly sublime All Our Exes Live In Texas hold a spell over the throng in attendance at the Press Club, with the Sydney-bred alt-country/folk quartet offering up a pocket of quietude and reflection in the booming BIGSOUND expanse.
It seems a simple set-up - uke, accordion, mandolin and guitar - but the lush complexity of the four-part harmonies and vocal canons that escape the lips of the singer-songwriter sirens (Elana, Katie, Hannah and Georgia) are enough to enrapture any eager ear. Even outside their musical arrangements, the quartet are a likeable, eminently watchable group, bantering playfully between songs and "tuning up" their "Hawaiian nose guitars" (read: their sinuses) to endearing effect. Recent single Tell Me is a natural, polished standout, but when the quality on tap is so high and poured so freely, it's hard to feel disappointed by a single second.
