"This largely acoustic record is not your average indie release — it’s passionate, evocative and gritty."
Alex Guthrie lays all his cards on the table in his debut album.
This largely acoustic record is not your average indie release — it’s passionate, evocative and gritty. Guthrie’s voice is one of a kind, a combination of growls and half-yodels that, strangely, works brilliantly. Goin’ Nowhere Blues is a knee-slapping, toe-tapping tune, while Even The Birds slows things down a little and shows off Guthrie’s softer side. And while his slightly off-balance approach to singing may dissuade some listeners, this reviewer insists you give it a spin.
