It’s pretty banal stuff for the average landlubber.
If you approach an Alestorm record with any notion of earnestness or seriousness, you’re doing something wrong.
Alestorm have made a career out of not just playing pirate metal songs, but living the pirate metal lifestyle, evolving as they have out of the English university town pubs that support this kind of thing for some reason. But it can get a bit tiring: the ok metal that grounds the outlandish lyrics wears pretty thin, with a great cover of that awful Hangover song the one saving grace. It’s pretty banal stuff for the average landlubber.
