New Zealander Aldous Harding brings something fresh to the folk genre, taking it out of the safe storytelling mould that traps others. The single Hunter is one of the more uptempo songs with a beautiful violin hook throughout. Stop Your Tears is ghostlike and ethereal while Two Bitten Hearts revolves around what is not said, a theremin providing a spooky background. Harding spins a good yarn with a subtlety like no other, modern folk with more than a dash of class.
