And in typical Harris style, most of the choruses are so damn catchy you’ll be grooving and moving whether you like it or not.

Glad All Over is as solid a display of disaffected American songwriting as you’ll hear all year.

Just about every track on San Cisco could be a single and, with the way things have gone over the past year, there’s every chance they will be.

As an album, the overall feeling is of a body of work that comes close, but simply doesn’t get over the line.

This is an album that feels like you’re sitting down with an old friend sharing a quiet drink and some warm memories, and sometimes that’s all an album should be.

The lack of a ‘this album could make us big’ mentality is quite refreshing and rewarding, and it sits as a quiet little triumph overall.

If you’ve got the tapes, you’ve heard the best. There’s nothing new of note here, just a chance to renew your vows.

This is a fantastic first solo outing that never gets tired, no matter how many times you listen to it.

Turning gloom into glee isn’t easy, yet that’s just what Neurosis have achieved.
