Six full length releases and we’re left wanting more? Bring on number seven.

Don’t think this is a ‘club’ Boards Of Canada though – the problem, if there is one, is that the album is actually too obviously a Boards Of Canada album.

The cheek and breeze of their earlier material, like 2011’s Roller Disco and 2010’s Hey, are sorely missing, only to have been replaced by an addiction to a samey-samey disco-inspired chord progression, a shtick that just gets plain boring by the end.

The Greatest Generation is a perfectly balanced record that will undoubtedly be the band’s crown jewel in years to come.

In fact, Black Pudding is such an instant classic, I’m willing to bet my right bum cheek it appears on many critics’ top ten lists for 2013.
