A respectable but safe enough exercise, this may result in the long-overdue ceasing of “best album since Rust In Peace” cries that have accompanied almost every new Megadeth album over the past two decades.

Though they’re unlikely to bother the charts too much here it’s a guarantee tickets to their next Australian tour will be snapped up and the fans will be able to sing along to all the new songs.

Howlin is an ethereal and experimental project that accomplishes an almost psychedelic throw rug effect over a genuinely inspired dream-pop base.

Dance music mixed with a heaped teaspoon of emotion and soul is a winning combination and Settle is an exquisite showcase of how electronic music can be beautiful.

While Tricky’s claims that False Idols is a better album than iconic ’95 debut Maxinquaye should obviously be taken as complete hyperbole, it’s at least his most accomplished and consistent long player since ‘98’s Angels With Dirty Faces.

Wilderness is an album that demands devoted listening; to disappear down the rabbit hole with these warped vignettes.

This is a gorgeous little album and well worth repeated listens.
