Lloyd, on It Never Ends, gifts us “I smell smoke/from an old flame”. Sadly, it’s a little bit stale.

By choice or by coercion Wale continues to try balancing both sides of the rap ledger and as such will find plenty of fans, though few who will enjoy The Gifted in its entirety.

If you can listen to BE without knowing who the band is, through shuffle or Spotify, there is much to like. However, the chances of the band ever escaping the Gallagher shackles are slim.

A duo who began writing good albums now have the tools they need to make very good albums. There are a few bumps here, sure, but in the main this is compelling.

Its simplicity is unlikely to appeal to those who prefer more dynamic music; it could be brushed off as being too boring or anonymous. However, there is a classiness and charm to the album that grows with each listen.

This is an album that promised much and delivers so much more.
