Album Review: 5 Seconds Of Summer - LIVESOS

5 Seconds Of Summer have been playing sold-out shows internationally for maybe a year now, so naturally the cash cow came calling.

The mix on this live album is deliberately designed to capture frantic fan-girl cries mid-song, hoping to add some life to a lacklustre array of songs. The boys are without a doubt capable performers, but the instrumentation manages to sound sparse rather than full of live concert largesse. They aspire to the heights of Green Day (c’mon, they cover one of their songs), but they’re miles from capturing the vitality of their pop-punk heroes.
