We're sitting at about the halfway point in conjuring the years that have made Purple Sneakers. Who delivered for 2011? The Ten Years of Taste Mix is here!
We're sitting at about the halfway point in conjuring the years that have made Purple Sneakers. A club, turned music blog, turned collective with added radio show, this amalgamation of our accomplishments have occurred purely based on the passion we have for music. As our tenth birthday approaches us in little over a week, we've styled another mix for our Ten Years Of Taste series, this time shaping the year that was 2011.
On a global scale, 2011 cast a lot of attention on a series of different pockets in our world. A destructive set of earthquakes unleashed a dangerous tsunami in North-East Japan, the London riots hit their peak, the Occupy World Street protest demonstrated itself, Prince William and Kate Middleton got hitched, and ol' faithful assignment go-to, Wikipedia, turned 10 years old.
Alongside the deaths of North Korean leader, Kim Jong Il, and Apple founder, Steve Jobs, English soul singer, Amy Winehouse also sadly passed away. R.E.M announced their disbandment after 31 years of activity, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard released their incredible first of a billion full-length records, and Bon Iver had us wrapped around his little finger, with his heart-warming, eponymous album.

Feeling old yet? Same. Smooth out the wrinkles with the glitch and glamour that was honoured in 2011, as the next instalment of the Purple Sneakers Ten Years Of Taste Mix Series is here!
Driven by a healthy range of moods and themes, this mix is made up of tunes that will make you exclaim, "Ohhhh I remember this song!" in a bout of excited nostalgia; kicking off with Kavinsky's hard hitting, 'Nightcall', Trentemoller's cooled down remix of 'Midnight City' by M83, Luke Million's ode to our favourite terminator, 'Arnold', the debut single from Hot Chip / 2 Bears member, Joe Goddard, and concluding with a run of tracks from local heroes, Beni, Gold Fields and Parachute Youth.
