British singer, songwriter, producer, and philanthropist Zayn is seemingly planning his long-awaited return to Australia – his first as a solo artist.

The Dusk Till Dawn hitmaker recently divulged his plans to head back to his fans in Australia and New Zealand in an exclusive interview with KIIS FM’s The Smallzy Show. The chat marked his first Australian interview in 12 years.

In addition to teasing an Australian tour, Zayn opened up about his new album, KONNAKOL, discussed his musical inspirations, his growth as an artist, and the inauthentic moments of his career in One Direction. Zayn’s latest album, KONNAKOL, was released on Friday (17 April).

“I’ve got plans to come to Australia – you might be seeing me soon,” Zayn said after Smallzy asked about his touring plans.

The singer continued, “Australia and New Zealand are two of the big places in my mind. I remember performing there in the band. I remember what the crowds were like, what the people were like, what the food was like, what the weather was like. And I feel like I want to go back there, you know, spend a bit of time there for sure.”

From May to November – with breaks in between – Zayn is embarking on a 31-date arena and stadium run across North America, South America, Mexico and the UK. If he does make his way to Australia and New Zealand, we anticipate the dates will take place in 2027.

Zayn last visited Australia in February 2015 and New Zealand in October 2013 – both while touring with One Direction – his Australian appearances marking some of his last performances before leaving the group a month later. The band went on indefinite hiatus in 2016.
