More Yothu Yindi More Yothu Yindi

You might have already known that King Stingray are descendants of Yothu Yindi – not only in sound and spirit but also with members of both bands closely related – but did you know that you could see both bands perform at the upcoming Woodford Folk Festival? And, that you can see them play beach volleyball against each other at the festival?

According to an ABC Sunshine Coast report, 50 cubic metres of sand has been delivered to the Woodfordia site to showcase the event’s first-ever beach volleyball court. Teasing their appearance on the court, King Stingray alluded to a “big volleyball game” set to take place at the festival: “King Stingray versus Yothu Yindi.”

The report found Chris Shervey, the Site Manager of Woodford Folk Festival, stating that organisers will place a blackboard on-site and encourage punters to write their names and participate in some communal sport.

“It will be running all the way into the night,” Shervey said. “So, you might get to have a game with one of the headlining bands or a local artist.”

You can check out the report below. Hopefully, there will be some great weather for the festival.

As previously reported by The Music, King Stingray will join Ball Park Music, Tia Gostelow and Baker Boy as headliners of the 2024/25 Woodford Folk Festival. 450 artists will play across six days, with Yothu Yindi, Beccy Cole, Dan Sultan, Ngaiire, Alex The Astronaut, Jaguar Jonze, Josh Pyke, Husky, and many more heading to Woodfordia.
