UK post-punk favourites Yard Act have announced a four-date Australian tour for this November, making the trek Down Under in support of their crash-hot second album Where’s My Utopia?
The tour will start in Sydney (Eora), with a show at the Factory Theatre booked in for Tuesday November 12. The band will follow it right up in Melbourne (Naarm), playing The Croxton the following night (November 13), before taking to Brisbane (Meanjin) for a show at The Triffid on Thursday November 14. Last but not least, they’ll play Freo.Social in Perth (Boorloo) on Sunday November 17.
Tickets for all four shows go on sale at 10am local time this Thursday (July 4), following a presale that kicks off at the same time tomorrow (July 3) – head here for more info on both sales.
Where’s My Utopia? landed back in March via Island, and was supported by four singles: Dream Job arrived first last October, followed by Petroleum in November, then We Make Hits in January, and When The Laughter Stops (featuring Katy J Pearson) in February. The album was praised as a major evolution from Yard Act’s debut album, 2022’s The Overload, incorporating elements of dance-punk, pop and disco.
Yard Act last toured Australia at the start of 2023, when they appeared as part of the Laneway Festival lineup. Reviewing their set for TheMusic.com.au, David James Young wrote that the band “bring their sneering brand of Leeds cynicism to Australian audiences with pulsating energy and free-wheeling looseness”. He went on to describe their performance as “a set where the pros far, far outweigh the cons – mainly because the cons didn't bother showing”.
