EXCLUSIVE: Melbourne Venue To Close Doors With Huge Bushfire Relief Show

21 January 2020 | 4:00 pm | Neil Griffiths

"Xe54 will be dearly missed."

Despite closing its doors last weekend, Melbourne's Xe54 will throw one more massive show for bushfire relief before officially closing.

The Music can exclusively reveal today that the City Road venue will host a gig by two-time ARIA Award nominee and hometown producer Dom Dolla on 1 February, following his sold out show at the Coburg Velodrome, with all proceeds to go towards CFA Victoria, Australian Red Cross & WIRES.

"Xe54 will be dearly missed," Xe54 General Manager Laura Hughes told The Music today.

"We've created so many memorable moments with friends new and old, hosted some of the world's biggest artists as well as providing a platform for emerging talent."

Xe54, originally opened in August 2017, was a popular space for Melbourne's electronic scene and featured a number of big local and international names including Flight Facilities, Kevin Saunderson, Green Velvet, CC:Disco!, Pleasurekraft and Cassettes For Kids, who played the closing party last weekend.

The news of Xe54's closure comes after the announcement that collective, Untitled Group, which represented the venue, has secured the lease for Melbourne's famous The Wool Store - which has previously hosted names like DMA'S, Solomon and Jamie Jones.
