It could be the break you've been waiting for... or just a damn good time
Calling all aspiring Sunshine Coast-based instrumentalists: the Woodford Folk Festival is on the hunt for 40 local musicians to fill out a community orchestra to perform a special one-off show with celebrated songstress Katie Noonan to celebrate the event's 30th anniversary.
Conducted by esteemed composer, director and musician Andrew Veivers, the orchestra will perform Noonan's commemorative original Festival Song on two occasions: the first, at an outdoor event at Sunset In Caloundra, on Friday, 18 December, and the second at the Woodfordia Amphitheatre for the event's welcoming ceremony itself on 27 December.
Instrumentalists of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to audition at The Events Centre between 10am and 2pm on Sunday, 11 October. Successful applicants will need to be available for three pre-rehearsals — from 10am to 2pm on Sunday 15 & 22 November, and 13 December — as well as the performances themselves and a final pre-Woodford rehearsal during the day and early evening on Boxing Day.
Those who make the orchestra won't just be granted the opportunity to perform on stage with Noonan, though; members will also be granted a day ticket (with camping) to the festival for 27 December.
