The renowned management company is broadening their horizons
Renowned management company Wondercore Island, whose artist roster includes Hiatus Kaiyote, Oscar Key Sung and Ainslie Wills, have been announced as the new live-music bookers for recently permanent live-music venue The Shadow Electric.
Since its conversion to a full-time gig space back in August, The Shadow Electric has been steadily asserting itself on the Melbourne live-music scene. Meanwhile, with a history in promoting emerging local acts and knowing their way around the scenes under the radar at home and abroad in the US, Japan, UK and Europe, Wondercore Island is in a prime position to capitalise on its extensive knowledge and networks to curate some truly impressive events at the old Abbotsford Convent.
"We're very lucky to be able to work with Dave and Jay at The Shadow Electric; it's such a unique space and an extremely rare opportunity to be able to present live music in a heritage-listed building in Melbourne," Wondercore Island director Si Jay Gould said in a statement. "There is a contagious sense of community at the Abbotsford Convent which makes building shows there really special amongst promoters and artists."
Wasting no time in cultivating a classy image, The Shadow Electric has a chockas few weeks booked ahead, with Teeth & Tongue (supported by Kangaroo Skull, The Ancients, Time For Dreams) due to take the stage this Saturday, November 15, Ainslie Wills (supported by Mayfair Kytes, Zoe Fox) on November 21, Fractures coming to town for their Hollow Ground tour on November 29, New Gods launching their album on December 5, Andras Fox & Oscar Key Sung launching Cafe Romantica on December 6, and Dan Kelly's Christmas Spectacular on December 20.
