Woman Jailed After Biting Police Officer At WA Music Festival

The incident occurred in 2016.

A woman will serve a mandatory six month prison sentence after she bit a police officer's arm while being escorted out of a WA music festival.

As PerthNow reports, Amina Robert Lowoja received the sentence at Perth Magistrates Court this week for the incident which occurred at the Origin NYE festival in December 2016.

The 24-year-old was reportedly escorted out of the festival after she began fighting with event security.

“While obtaining her account of events, Ms Lowoja kicked a security officer to his abdomen,” a WA Police Union spokesperson said.

“When the officer was placing her under arrest, Ms Lowoja lent in and bit his left upper bicep.”

Lowoja was charged with assaulting a public officer and common assault. She will be eligible for parole following the six month sentence.
