De La Soul Head Up Final WOMADelaide Announce

Who's ready for March now?!

Adelaide's premier festival WOMADelaide has announced its final round of 2016 acts, as it nears its 20th event this March. Today's announcement is another big 'un, featuring Grammy-winning hip hop trio De La Soul, Indian pop queen Asha Bhosle, Sarah Blasko and many more.

Alongside them are the Choir of the APY (Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara) Lands, Alpine, UK Mercury Prize nominee Eska, Melbourne alt pop act Ainslie Wills, Ajak Kwai, DJ Marcellus Pittman, 숨 [su:m] and the Tek Tek Ensemble.

De La Soul's appearance happens to coincide with their upcoming eighth studio album so you may be hearing some new tracks, while Asha Bhosle, whose career spans about 12,000 recorded songs and one of the most recognisable voices in Bollywood, will be performing with a mini Bollywood orchestra.

WOMADelaide's director Ian Scobie says, "Being able to present De La Soul with a full live band, plus the legendary Asha Bhosle and her Bollywood mini-orchestra in the same festival is a real thrill and shows the incredible diversity of the festival lineup."

The acts on today's announcement join St Germain, Calexico, John Grant and many more on the festival.
