"We were thrilled with the quality and diversity of entries that reinforced why live music is so close to our hearts in this country."

The winning film has been awarded today for the inaugural I Love Live Music film competition, a new initiative started by Australian Music Industry Network in conjunction with the St Kilda Film Festival and the Live Music Office for aspiring filmmakers and lovers of contemporary music.

Live From Kingsbury Bowls by filmmaker Sara Braithwaite has taken home the grand prize, featuring a performance by Liz Stringer. The 60-second film is "centered around the sense of community that local live music creates. Showing that all that is needed to keep live music alive is for individuals to continue to enjoy". A runner-up prize was awarded to Cesar Salmeron and Aaron Cuthbert for Encore, featuring music by Quincy McLean and Simon Bailey.

AMIN's chair Patrick Donovan said, "When we put out the challenge to producers to encapsulate why they love live music in under a minute we didn’t know what to expect but we were thrilled with the quality and diversity of entries that reinforced why live music is so close to our hearts in this country."

The competition's finalists will have their films screened at the upcoming St Kilda Film Festival on 26 May, with over $12,000 worth of prizes shared among the filmmakers.
