Regional areas of Victoria are about to get a massive injection of live entertainment thanks to touring and events company Visit Victoria, which is putting millions of dollars towards boosting intrastate, interstate and international visitation.
As per a statement from Visit Victoria's website, the introduction of the Regional Events Fund will see $20 million go towards:
- an increase in economic benefits by driving visitation from outside of the region and the State and extending length of stay and yield
- showcasing Victoria's key regional tourism strengths and building Victoria's reputation as an events destination
- developing a sustainable calendar of regional events.
The Regional Events Fund will also assist with costs of securing, hosting and marketing new events.
Applicants who submit an expression of interest for the funding will be contacted by Visit Victoria who will then assess eligibility.
