"I’ll strike up a deal for those who have been offended by my grizzly growlers..." quipped lead vocalist Rhian Teasdale.

British indie rockers Wet Leg released their long-awaited second album, moisturizer, last Friday (11 July), and they’re hoping to score the #1 album in their native country this week.
The challenge is: they’re up against Oasis, whose greatest hits album, Time Flies – 1994-2009, landed atop the British album charts last week – after Liam and Noel Gallagher returned to the stage on their Live ’25 reunion tour.
Wet Leg or Oasis could snap up the #1 spot this week, so the former band has upped its marketing tactics to get any fans on the fence to continue streaming or buy the new album. How do they aim to get you on board? Vocalist Rhian Teasdale said she’ll shave her armpits if moisturizer gets to #1.
In a video posted to social media, Teasdale holds the moisturizer vinyl in her hands as text on the screen reads, “according to the official charts, moisturizer will go head to head against Oasis for the #1 spot tomorrow.”
“Been trying to think how can I sabotage Oasis so we can nab the #1… maybe I can spread a rumour that they’re really mean people. Hmm… actually, that might not work. Wait, I have a better idea… according to thousands of old men on the internet, I have deeply shaken them by having air on my armpits, some even saying as far as saying it’s ‘bad for business.’”

The video continues, “funny, I never expected such a response on my hair, cause well… I’m not a pre-pubescent child… but I’ll strike up a deal for those who have been offended by my grizzly growlers. If somehow we manage to beat Oasis to #1 tomorrow, I’ll shave the pits… and for those who don’t care that grown-ups grow hair, you should grab a vinyl anyway!”
Wet Leg’s new album has been described as “fun and freaky and fabulous” and “punchier, prettier and more perverted where it counts.” You can watch the video below and purchase/listen to moisturizer here.
The band rose to prominence with their cheeky, Mean Girls-referencing single Chaise Longue in June 2021.
They’ve since gone on to win BRIT and Grammy Awards, opened for Harry Styles in Australia and at Wembley Stadium, and their self-titled debut album hit #1 in the UK and Australia. As to where moisturizer will land on the charts Down Under, head to ARIA’s social media accounts later this afternoon to find out.
@wetlegband it’s only fair that you sacrifice the #1 glory of your man duo if you want to rid me of my fluff-tuffts #wetleg #newmusic
