The country voted and it was decided on Saturday night that Brisbane artist Kate Miller-Heidke will represent Australia at this year’s Eurovision competition in Tel Aviv after winning out the first-ever Eurovision - Australia Decides competition.

In a group of incredibly talented competitors - which included Sheppard, Bachelor Girl's Tania Doko, Killing Heidi's Ella Hooper, drag queen Courtney Act and more - it was Adelaide duo Electric Fields (Michael Ross and Zaachariaha Fielding) that seem to have stolen the show and the public's heart.

Their high energy track 2000 & Whatever, which features Fielding's impressive vocals in both English and Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara, had the live crowd cheering and dancing along, while those at home where singing their praises via social media.

As a result, Electric Fields were trending on Twitter around the world.

"We were slightly shocked," Ross told The Music today.

"So much love for the song and our philosophy. Not only has our single and EP jumped into the top 10 iTunes pop charts, but for an hour, we were trending #7 worldwide on Twitter."

"What a ride! We had a magic experience," he says of the Australia Decides experience. "Such hard work and such a buzz. The live audience was singing along in Anangu language!!"

"Plus the camaraderie between all the artists and crew was real. We may have come second in the vote but we’re walking on sunshine."

Electric Fields released their debut EP, INMA, in mid-2016, which has seen them to nominated for Artist Of The Year at the NIMAs, and work with acts like Hermitude, Sampa The Great and more, as well as touring extensively around Australia and the world.

According to Ross, fans won't have to wait much longer for new music from the pair.

"Now we are diving into our debut album, hoping to release it this year. We've woven our souls into all the new songs and as a collection, they paint a picture we’ve fallen in pure love with."
