"A lot of bands have done incredible re-releases or reimagined versions of songs, and those versions are usually stripped down and showcase a softer side. We wanted to do the exact opposite - to team up with some powerhouses in the deathcore scene (Brand of Sacrifice), and release something heavy, fast paced and aggressive."
Metalcore legends, We Came As Romans have collaborated with deathcore innovators, Brand of Sacrifice to release "Darkbloom (Reimagined feat. Brand of Sacrifice)" today. The reimagined version of the single, originally released by We Came As Romans in July of 2021, is released via Sharptone Records and can be found on streaming platforms HERE! As touched on by the band below, the term 're-imagined' on re-released tracks these days GENERALLY means that they band have either stripped a heavy song back to either acoustic or electronic roots, and possibly even down to 8-bit versions or "lo-fi hip hop beats" style versions. HOWEVER, WCAR have flipped the script here and GONE HARD OUT ON THIS TRACK.
The We Came As Romans camp shared that they have “...been fans of Brand of Sacrifice for a minute - and when we had the idea to do a reimagined version of Darkbloom, they were the first people to come to mind. A lot of bands have done incredible re-releases or reimagined versions of songs, and those versions are usually stripped down and showcase a softer side. We wanted to do the exact opposite - to team up with some powerhouses in the deathcore scene, and release something heavy, fast paced and aggressive. It’s been a blast working with the BOS guys, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for them.”
Brand of Sacrifice added that: “When WCAR approached us to rewrite this track with them, we were excited to be able to work with a band that has done so much for metalcore as a whole. This reimagined version of Darkbloom is full of aggression and energy, and combines all of the elements that make both of our bands special with some unexpected surprises along the way. We're super stoked that we have the opportunity to innovate and bridge the gap between two very different sub genres, and do something insane that really hasn’t been done all that often in metal.”
WCAR releasing Darkbloom as a single and now this re-imagined version is a bright light in the darkness. Singer David Stephens, guitarist Joshua Moore, bassist Andy Glass, guitarist Lou Cotton, and drummer David Puckett are bringing in an ambitious, courageous new era for the band, while honoring the legacy and memory of their fallen bandmate, co-vocalist and keyboardist Kyle Pavone, who passed away in 2018.
