Wayne Hancock Announces 2015 National Tour Dates

13 November 2014 | 2:26 pm | Staff Writer

The country icon known as 'The Train' touches down in March

Celebrated honky-tonk hero Wayne 'The Train' Hancock is following up his wildly successful, sold-out east-coast tour of Australia with another run of shows around the country slated for this coming March, only eight months after he last wowed antipodean audiences in the flesh.

Getting under way on Tuesday, March 3, at Lefty's Old Time Music Hall, in Brisbane, Hancock will head to Sydney, Melbourne and Oakleigh on his way through to a final showing in Adelaide on Sunday, March 8, at The Garden Of Unearthly Delights.

In the 19 years since the release of his acclaimed debut full-length, Thunderstorms And Neon Signs, Hancock — affectionately known as 'The Train' — has asserted himself as an indelible part of the US country-music landscape, earning consistent comparisons to the legendary Hank Williams Sr — "Hancock has more Hank Sr. in him than either I or Hank Williams Jr," Hank III once famously said — and drawing on influences from the realms of honky-tonk, Western swing, blues, Texan rockabilly and big-band music.

Get amongst the title track of his most recent full-length, Ride (2013), below.
