Watch Of Monsters & Men And Men At Work Collaborate On Jimmy Kimmel

5 May 2016 | 11:22 am | Staff Writer

This is so good, you guys

In what is probably one of our favourite TV pun segments, this week's MashUpMonday segment on Jimmy Kimmel Live featured none other than Icelandic folk rockers Of Monsters & Men taking to the stage with iconic Aussie rockers Men At Work.

And there we have… Of Monsters & Men At Work.

The two bands collaborate to play a Little Talk/Down Under mash-up, a jaunty affair complete with horns and a great singalong. Speaking to Billboard, Kimmel explained how the collaboration came about as a result of an early brainstorming session, taking over a year to come to fruition.

"This is one of those early brainstorming sessions that we do in the office or after work. I’m a big Men at Work fan. I grew up with them in the ‘80s.

"You have an Icelandic artist and you have to wait for them to come to California. Fortunately [Men at Work’s Colin Hay] lives in Santa Monica. We pitched [OMAM’s label, Republic Records] first. We had to wait till Coachella and then were able to grab them.  Colin came up with the idea to mash Little Talks and Down Under together without us prompting him. Of Monsters & Men went to Colin’s house and met him and worked it up."

Of Monsters & Men are currently in town — they play the Palais Theatre in Melbourne tonight.
