The BeatlesOne for the nostalgics, the National Film And Sound Archive Of Australia (NFSA) has released never-before-seen footage of The Beatles in the peak of their career, getting their make-up before a TV special on November 1, 1965.
The 49-second silent clip was filmed by Australian dancer and make-up artist Dawn Swane, who was at the time working for a TV channel in Manchester.
She says of the clip, "I was in the makeup room, and we were having some champagne [...] I don’t know if it was John or if it was Ringo, but they took the camera off me and said, “This is no way to use a camera” and they sort of jiggled it upside down and inside out a bit, and everybody was just mucking around. But that was great. I mean they were a nice group of people. They really were."
The black and white clip features a cheeky Paul giving a thumbs up, Ringo pulling up a fist, a coy waving George and John towards the end.
