“He was an artist who inspired so many in so many ways. "
The 2018 Billboard Music Awards paid tribute to Avicii on Sunday night, with presenters Halsey and The Chainsmokers contributing some touching words during the broadcast.
The annual event took place in Las Vegas, with Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars and more cleaning up, but it was words about the late DJ Tim Bergling, who passed away a month ago, that had the biggest impact of the night.
“He was an artist who inspired so many in so many ways. Simply put, he meant so much to us and everyone in the EDM community," The Chainsmokers’ Andrew Taggart said.
Halsey stated he was “such a joy”, which made the tragedy “all the more painful”.

"It's a reminder to all of us to be there and to support and to love all of our friends and family members who may be struggling with mental health issues,” she said.
Avicii’s Avīci (01) release was nominated for Top Dance/Electronic Album, an award that was given to The Chainsmokers for Memories…Do Not Open.
Alongside big winners Sheeran, Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar, Australian Christian group Hillsong Worship won Top Christian Song with What A Beautiful Name.
