WA To Enter Three Day Lockdown Tonight; Perth Comedy Fest & More Affected

23 April 2021 | 5:03 pm | Staff Writer

The COVID lockdown in WA will affect Perth Comedy Festival and many more events across the state.

WA will enter a snap three-day lockdown tonight at midnight.

Premier Mark McGowan confirmed at a press conference this afternoon that a traveller who contracted COVID-19 while in hotel quarantine had spent five days in Perth, visiting various hotspots in the city and more.

During the lockdown, which will end on Monday at midnight, those in Perth and the Peel region will only be able to leave home for work, shopping for essential items, medical and healthcare needs and exercise, while venues are only permitted to offer takeaway.

Masks will also be mandatory as of 6pm today.

The snap lockdown will affect a slew of event across the state, including Perth Comedy Festival, which kicked off earlier this week.

Back in February, WA went into a five-day lockdown that impacted Perth Festival and Fringe World.
