WA Act Koi Child Sign With Pilerats Records

New single on the way.

More Koi Child Koi Child Profile

Western Australian nu-jazz band Koi Child have announced that they have signed with Pilerats Records and subsequently will release their latest single, Black Panda digitally this week.

The seven-piece act have just come off the Groovin' The Moo festival last month and are currently working on their debut album due out later this year, alongside Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker who also produced the single.

Parker is such a fan of the band that he in fact gave them the supporting slot at Tame Impala's shows in WA last year after seeing their first live show and Black Panda marks the second song he has produced for the lads, with the first being their debut single, Slow One.

Speaking on the latest song, Koi Child vocalist, Shannon Patterson said: "What started as a piss take jam, turned out to be a fricken monster!"

"When deciding on the next single a lot of our advisers thought we should have gone with a less aggressive track, but after a chat with Kev (our favourite uncle) we decided to risk it and stick with Black Panda. And so far we've got no regrets.
