"Every celebrity who takes up a place in quarantine is a place denied to a stranded Australian."
The Government has been slammed for allowing London pop star Rita Ora into the country to film The Voice while tens of thousands of Australians are stranded overseas.
As The Guardian reports, Labor home affairs spokeswoman Kristina Keneally has called out the Government for prioritising Ora, who landed in the country yesterday and is in Sydney hotel quarantine, over around 40,000 Australians desperately trying to return home.
“It’s another example of Scott Morrison leaving Australians behind,” Keneally said.
“There are still 40,000 Australians stranded overseas. Every celebrity who takes up a place in quarantine is a place denied to a stranded Australian."
When it was announced in December that Ora would be joining Guy Sebastian, Keith Urban and Jessica Mauboy as a judge on The Voice Australia, she was facing controversy over breaching COVID-19 restrictions in London.
