Vitals offer the third and final piece of their single-based puzzle, 'Paranoia'.
Things often come in three's, and that much is true when discussing Queensland's Vitals and their release history over the past three years.
For those not up to speed on these local noisemakers, 2015 saw the arrival of the short and chunky 'Vomit' and then in 2016, the band unveiled the melodic slow-burn of 'Inculcate' (which featured Brock Conry of Stepson on guest vocals. Now in 2017, concluding this planned three-story arc of singles is the solid new cut, 'Paranoia'; once again using similar artwork (seen below) to that of its two siblings to maintain the introspective, self-hating motif.

While 'Paranoia' shows off the Caloundra outfits sharp metalcore flavours, it also flexes their melodic and instrumental muscles further, with the second half being a dynamic, atmospheric instrumental finale that's a true far cry from the fiery and explosive hardcore moments of the song's first half. And speaking of fiery moments, 'Paranoia' sees a solid guest vocal appearance early on from Luke Harriss of the ever-violent She Cries Wolf, a band that Vitals take some solid cues from musically when they chart their sound through heavier waters.
With all of these singles now out and about and this three-track project (all mixed by Troy Brady at Elevnth Records) now at an end, I can only hope that we'll see a larger release come from Vitals in 2017. I mean, it's now been three years since their 'Insecurities' EP dropped so something else must be in the works, surely. In the meantime, however, go stream 'Paranoia' below.
