There will be a Black Flag and a FLAG, but Henry Rollins won’t be involved in either of them.
One of the most influential punk rock bands of all time, Black Flag, are the latest in a very long line of defunct bands to reform, it was announced late last week, with not one but two incarnations of the band set to get out on the road throughout 2013.
The first of these bands will play under the name Black Flag and will feature guitarist Greg Ginn, vocalist Ron Reyes (originally in the band from 1979-1980) and Gregory Moore on drums. Other reports have suggested former drummer Robo would be rejoining the band, but word from the band suggests this is not the case. A touring bassist has not been named.
They have announced they will be playing a number of dates, hitting Ruhrpott Rodeo in Hünxe, Germany in May, the UK's Hevy Fest in August and the Muddy Roots Music Festival in Tennessee later that month.
The band have also announced a new album is almost finished with this line up, with Dale Nixon playing bass (Nixon was a pseudonym Ginn used on a number of classic Black Flag records).

The second act from the Black Flag family is FLAG, who will be fronted by Keith Morris (current vocalist for OFF! and founding Black Flag frontman, leaving the band in 1979) and feature original bassist Chuck Dukowski (who left the band in 1983), drummer Bill Stevenson (1983 – 1985) and Descendents guitarist Stephen Egerton.
This won't be FLAG's first time together, they played the 1978 Nervous Breakdown EP together at a Goldenvoice party at the end of 2011. They have locked in dates at Germany's Monster Bash and Belgium's Groezrock Festival in April 28 as well as an appearance at the Punk Rock Bowling Festival in Las Vegas in May.

We have not yet heard from former frontman Henry Rollins about his thoughts on either reformation. We're expecting he will have a rather strong opinion.
