The new Ned Kelly-inspired film featuring musician and burgeoning actor Marlon Williams finally has some release details and really summer can't come soon enough.
After appearing in A Star Is Born last year alongside Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, the Christchurch crooner is slated to star as George King in the upcoming film True History Of The Kelly Gang, “a fictionalised re-telling of the life and crimes of infamous 19th-century Australian outlaw Ned Kelly”.
The film has today been announced as a Stan original film and will premiere in cinemas and on Stan this summer.
True History Of The Kelly Gang, which premiered at Toronto International Film Festival in September, is based on the award-winning novel by Peter Carey and will star George MacKay as Ned Kelly as well as acting legend Russell Crowe, Sons Of Anarchy’s Charlie Hunnam, Nicholas Hoult (Skins, X-Men), Australian actor Essie Davis (Game Of Thrones, The Babadook, Assassin's Creed) and more.
True History Of The Kelly Gang was directed by Australian filmmaker Justin Kurzel, who has directed Blue Tongue, Snowtown, Macbeth, Assassin's Creed and more.
“I am thrilled in the boldness and daring by Stan to embrace our ambitious film," Kurzel said.

"For Australians to see our take on Peter Carey's extraordinary book in cinemas and on Stan over the summer is very exciting. I hope as many eyes as possible get the opportunity to see a film the makers are deeply proud of.”
Williams is also slated to feature in Aussie VR feature film Lone Wolf next year, which stars Hugo Weaving.
You can catch Williams live this December as part of Paul Kelly's Making Gravy tour. Scroll down to theGuide for all the details.
