Most votes EVER

Ahead of tomorrow's annual Hottest 100 countdown, triple j have released a bunch of stats to show that they're having the biggest year on record.

The youth broadcaster's listeners set a record for the most votes cast ever, with 2,255,110 votes made for this year's countdown. That's 7.6% up from the 2015 countdown.

Of the 100 songs, 66 Aussie songs made the list — the countdown's highest number of Aussies — though there were also songs from 12 other countries.

26 artists were first discovered on triple j Unearthed, while 23 artists are making their debut on the countdown this year.
