Astroworld, the tumultuous music festival hosted by Travis Scott in 2021, will be the subject of a Netflix documentary next month.
The TV, movies, and documentary streaming giant has shared a trailer for the upcoming film The Astroworld Tragedy. The film will be part of the streamer’s Trainwreck documentary series, which began with a Woodstock ’99 documentary in 2022.

The devastating event resulted in the deaths of ten festivalgoers; they passed away following a crowd crush as the rapper performed in Houston.
In a 2023 interview, the SICKO MODE hitmaker opened up about how the mass deaths during his show affected his new music on the album UTOPIA.
“Making music, you think about things that go on in life and things that happen in your life, and you dial in on things,” Scott told the publication. “That moment for families, for the city, you know, it was devastating. I was just overly devastated.”

He continued, “Yeah, I always think about it. Those fans were like my family. You know, I love my fans to the utmost. It has its moments where it gets rough and…yeah. You just feel for those people. And their families.”
Despite calls for the rapper to be charged over the deaths, District Attorney Kim Ogg stated that “no single individual was criminally responsible” for the disaster.
Yemi Bamiro (Fight The Power: How Hip-Hop Changed The World) and Hannah Poulter (Wanted: The Escape Of Carlos Ghosn) co-directed the upcoming documentary. It will feature fan-shot footage from the event, 911 call audio, and interviews with the survivors and families of those who tragically lost their lives.
“On November 5, 2021, Travis Scott stepped on stage to perform his set at Astroworld: what would have been the best night of the festivalgoers’ lives quickly turned into a catastrophe that left 10 of them dead,” the official synopsis reads.
“The Astroworld Tragedy takes an exclusive look at that night, told from the perspective of the survivors, paramedics, and security staff that were at the centre of this catastrophe.”
