Travis Scott fans weren’t going to let the cancellation of his show at the Pyramids of Giza stop them from celebrating the release of the rapper’s highly-anticipated album, UTOPIA.

ICYMI: Travis Scott finally dropped his fourth studio album on Friday, July 28, and was planning to debut the new album and the film with a listening party and live stream from the ancient monuments.

However, it was reported on July 20 that The Egyptian Musicians Syndicate (via Egypt Today) said the show would no longer go ahead due to safety concerns and “peculiar rituals performed by the star during his performance, contradicting our authentic societal values and traditions.”

While Live Nation initially released a statement that assured fans that “there have been no changes to Travis Scott’s show in Egypt” and “any reports to the contrary are false”, they weren’t able to get the show across the line in the end, citing “complex production issues”.

“We regret to inform you that the UTOPIA show, originally scheduled for July 28th at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt is cancelled,” Live Nation Middle East said in a statement. “Unfortunately, despite highest efforts, complex production issues meant that the show could not be constructed in the desert.”

Scott also took to Twitter to tell fans the Pyramid shows “will happen” eventually.

“Egypt at the pyramids will happen. But due to demand and detail logistics. They just need a bit a time to set lay on lands. I will keep u posted on a date which will be soon love you alllll”.

Now, t seems that fans of the hip-hop star took the message quite literally, with many rocking up to a spot near the pyramids to kick off an album release party of their own on the night Scott’s show was meant to take place.

Posting a clip to social media, one fan page wrote: “THREW A PARTY AT THE PYRAMIDS”.

In the video, fans of the rapper can be seen partying and dancing under the moonlight as they sand Travis Scott’s Bystanders.

Those present at the pop-up party continued to post clips of their own in the thread, wth one attendee writing, “Much love to everyone who was there ❤️❤️made the trip even more memorable.”

Another added, “Thank u all it was definitely lit.”

UTOPIA comes five years following his highly-acclaimed album ASTROWORLD, which was nominated for best rap album at the 2019 Grammy Awards and featured Scott’s first No. 1 hit and RIAA diamond-certified single SICKO MODE.
