Sydney transgender musician Stephanie McCarthy has confronted alleged attackers Nick Wells and Alexis Ozanne who bashed her at a Newtown bar last month outside a court on Thursday.
McCarthy has accused one of the two men charged over the assault, Ozanne, of threatening her at Newtown Local Court, according to Fairfax.
She claims that Ozanne winked at her throughout the court proceedings and blew her a kiss as he exited the court, saying "I'll see you soon."
"That's when I lost it. I was screaming and yelling. I was just so upset," she said.
Ozanne was reportedly using a towel to cover his face as he left the courthouse which McCarthy tried to grab from him.
McCarthy has also claimed that a male friend of the accused men waited outside the courtroom and told her, "our boys are coming to stab you ... we can get you anywhere."
The two accused men are on bail and Wells has pleaded not guilty.
Ozanne has had his bail varied and must report to the police three times a week while the court also heard his mother was going to post a $2000 surety.
Wells is due back in court on August 13, while Ozanne is scheduled back on July 21, though will not be required to attend if he has legal representation.
The bassist for Sydney band Love Maul took to Twitter later that night to vent her anger about what had occurred at the courthouse.
"Threatened 4 times today at court by offenders and friends, complete with throat slitting motions. No justice for trans folks it seems."
After a series of posts, McCarthy later wrote: "Trans woman gets king hit in a hate crime, offender gets to leave the state on bail to work. Quality justice. Trans lives don't matter."
