The inner-west beer fest has stacked its roster with a raft of awesome local tunes.
Oktoberwest — an inner-west celebration of all things hops'n'froth — has announced its music line-up for this year's event, with the way led by the venerated mayhem of Birdman, Or The Unexpected Virtue Of A Tony Hawk Pro Skater Cover Band.
The six-piece party peddlers will be joined by in-form Americana doom-fuzz rockers The Lockhearts, hitting the stage on the heels of their Ride Home single tour, as well as veteran punk-rocker Lindsay McDougall (Frenzal Rhomb), Newtown punk faves Scabz and local artists The Persian Drugs, The Morrisons, Ainsley Farrell and Max Quinn.
Plus, a DJ set will be provided by the ever-entertaining Donny Benet, who'll be paying tribute to legendary electro trailblazers Kraftwerk — and there's more still to come.
The sounds will complement a sensory smorgasbord of brews from the heroes at Young Henrys, Willie The Boatman, Wayward Brewing Co, The Grifter Brewing Co, Batch Brewing Co, Sauce Brewing Co and Malt Shovel Brewery.

"The inner west is the new craft brewing capital of Australia, and Oktoberwest is set to become the premier beer festival for showcasing the fantastic beers being produced here," Inner West Brewery Association president and Wayward Brewing Co founder Peter Philip said in a statement. "Add to that the amazing local bands we have lined up, and you've got the recipe for one of Australia's best beer festivals."
With games (including Brewery Bingo, hosted by mayoral candidate Darcy Byrne), food trucks and more to keep punters sated, the inaugural Oktoberwest — held on Sunday 22 October at the Factory Theatre, Marrickville — is shaping up to be an absolute cracker, and you can experience it for yourself by grabbing a ticket through the event's website.
