Tony Armstrong will feature on tonight's episode of Take 5 With Zan Rowe.

Take 5 was birthed into the world as a radio segment 15 years ago. Since then, the program has developed into a podcast and now shines on our small screens for five episodes on ABC TV. Each episode has a different star with a love for music: it can be a lauded actor like Guy Pearce, once-in-a-generation songwriters like Tori Amos and Missy Higgins, a country music superstar in Keith Urban, or ex-AFL player and current ABC broadcaster Armstrong.

Previous episodes have seen Urban, Higgins, and Pearce surprise and enlighten viewers with their song choices. Opposite Zan Rowe, anyone can show their deepest vulnerabilities with her. Higgins was given the theme of identity and chose songs by Nina Simone, Sarah McLachlan, Sia, Philip Glass, and Colin Hay. The tracks followed Higgins' career beginnings, her separation from her ex, and her discovery of her sexuality.

Rowe promises that tonight's episode is a doozy, sharing that Armstrong "tells the story of his life, and the 'twists' that got him to where he is today, across five songs" and writing "Tony Armstrong = JOY" on Twitter

The episode trailer sees Armstrong delve into his delisting from footy, the pain of the failure he felt, and the devastation of unfulfilled dreams in a frank conversation with Rowe. "People start to do revisionist history on your behalf. They're like, why did you retire? I didn't retire. I got sacked because I wasn't good enough. And that's fine, but it's pretty brutal… I was gutted. It took me years to get over."

Watch Armstrong and Rowe tonight at 8pm on ABC TV and iView as they track the moments from feeling like you're not good enough to Armstrong's charisma and hard work leading to his Logie win.
