Today's Tour Announce Has Almost Guaranteed Ed Sheeran Will Return To #1 On The ARIA Chart

That was fast.

After eight straight weeks Ed Sheeran was finally pushed from the #1 spot on the ARIA Albums chart but thanks to this morning's Aussie tour announcement, it looks like the UK songwriter is about to reclaim top spot. 

According to midweek figures, Sheeran's ÷ (Divide) is the favourite to take out the #1 spot, after falling last week to Bliss N Eso's Off The Grid which should still find a spot in the top five. 

The pointy end of the chart will unlikely change too much this week though, with Nick Cave & The Bad SeedsLovely Creatures — The Best Of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds (1984 — 2014) the only new entrant expected to debut in the top ten. 

Other debuts this week come from At The Drive-In with in•ter a•li•a, Logic's EverybodyKasabian's For Crying Out Loud, Chris Stapleton's From A Room: Volume 1 and Blondie's Pollinator (all top 20), as well as Mac Demarco's This Old DogAsgeir with AfterglowMotionless In White's Graveyard ShiftPOND's The WeatherSan Cisco's The Water (all top 30), Diana Krall's Turn It Up (top 40) and StrangersMirrorland (top 50).

Over on the Singles chart, it will be interesting to see if DJ Khaled's I'm The One, featuring Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance The Rapper and Lil Wayne, can hold off Sheeran's chart-favourite Shape Of You for a second week, while another of the songwriter's tracks, Galway Girl, is expected to move up into the top three. 

Expect to also see One Direction's Niall Horan crack the top ten with new song, Slow Hands, while Jonas Blue's Mama, featuring William Singe and HAIM's Want You Back are likely to debut in the top 50.
