There are a tonne of excellent tunes on offer at tomorrow's State Of The Art Music Festival in Perth, so to help wrap your head around the best of the cream of the crop, we asked WAMI Award-winning musician Timothy Nelson, who'll be performing at the festival with his band The Infidels, who he'd spend his valuable time checking out…
Flooded Palace
Everyone's favourite drummer, or just everyone's drummer, Todd Pickett has finally gotten it together and formed his own band, and they are already one of the best going around town at the moment.
You Am I
Australia's finest. They play every show as if it's their last, and are always a perfect reminder of how guitars should sound.

The Scientists (original line up)
Having seen both of their recent 'reunion' shows, I'm just as excited as ever to see Kim Salmon ramble over James Baker's drumming once more.
Gareth Liddiard (frontman of The Drones)
They don't make songwriters like this guy anymore. Actually, they never did. History will be kind to this man. Bring your pen and take notes, kids.
Hideous Sun Demon
Bumped into these legends in Melbourne recently and we did an impromptu gig at a warehouse. They remind a little of The Scientists. Go crazy for ‘em.

Boom! Bap! Pow!
Novac Bull may just Perth's finest rock star. And the lads look good in a suit. Just one suit between them, of course.
Ben Witt (The Chemist/The Growl etc)
Shred Dog aka Doctor Burn aka Mr Fingers McGee... I’ll be wearing sunscreen just in case.
Birds Of Tokyo
Nice lads, and you can't beat a good Coldplay moment can ya?
Legs Electric
Another prime example of the wonderful ratio of guitars to drum machines. We'll be holding up the other side of the bargain though.

Shot by Bron Woodward at Rosemount Hotel.
The Community Supergroup
Any excuse to see Empty look that one unsuspecting audience member in the eye and freestyle their life back at them. It's a beautiful thing.
