New music streaming service Tidal has taken yet another hit with the announcement that its interim CEO, Peter Tonstad has resigned after just three months in the job.
With the launch of rival service Apple Music days away, it marks the second CEO to have quit Tidal in just six months, after Tonstad took on the position in April upon the departure of former boss, Andy Chen.
According to Music Ally, while Tidal are yet to name a new CEO, they announced in a statement that they will be looking for a permanent replacement .
"We can confirm interim CEO Peter Tonstad is no longer with the company. We are thankful to Peter for stepping in as interim CEO and wish him the best for the future," the statement read.
"Tidal will be transitioning to a permanent CEO as part of our strategic plan to create a leading platform, and current executives in New York and Oslo will continue to lead our rapidly developing innovation and content initiatives until our new CEO is in place."
The announcement comes in the wake of negative criticism aimed at the service by music artists and figures in recent months.
While The Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan recently called Jay Z's brain child model "disingenious", it was also reported last month that the royalty rate for artists streaming on Tidal may not be what was initially expected.
