The three-weekend music festival Tropic Fiesta is returning to Townsville this May after a successful 2022 event. Hosting ARIA Award winners and crowd favourites, hip-hop, DJ sets and country music, Tropic Fiesta has something for everyone.
More than 50 performances across 18 venues and events will perform across the festival, with only the beginning announced today - there is even more to come. Best of all, most of the festival program is free to attend.
The three-weekend thrills begin on Friday, 12, until 14 May, with Suburban Sounds ($75) showcasing country-rock royalty Lee Kernaghan, Hurricane Fall and Tammy Moxon. Also on the Friday, the Fiesta Dance Party will get punters warmed up and give them the opportunity to win tickets to the main event, Tropic Sounds.
On Saturday, 13 May, it's time for Fiesta At The Footy. Tropic Fiesta, NQ Cowboys, and Deadly Choices join forces to celebrate the Indigenous Round of the AFL with a special performance by Australian Idol winner Royston Sagigi-Baira.
The following weekend, the free East End Fiesta will contain a line-up of artists that anyone and everyone can love. With artists playing free gigs across venues throughout the iconic Flinders Street entertainment precinct from sundown to last drinks, you don’t want to miss out. Bobby Alu, Eliza And The Delusionals, Haiku Hands, Tia Gostelow, Ocean Grove, and many more will perform.
The final weekend kicks off on Friday, 26 May, with an epic free show. The Mansfield Hotel will transform into the ultimate rainbow party venue with a stacked line-up of live drag performances and a special guest DJ set from DJ Dolly Llama.
The main event, Tropic Sounds, follows on Saturday, 27 May ($70), with an absolutely huge line-up of ARIA winners and crowd favourites set to take over Reid Park. This ticketed event is on sale now and features Tones & I, Illy, Pierce Brothers, CLEWS, DJ Dolly Llama and local support acts.
The whirlwind three-weekend extravaganza ends on Sunday, 28 May, with a cool-off day. Recovery At The Ville features Harrison Storm and local support acts.
