Wavves, Jessica Says, The Mountain Goats, !!!, Pumarosa and more

Wavves — You're Welcome (Ghost Ramp/Inertia)

Wavves continue surfing the "surf punk" wave they've mastered, but You're Welcome is "one of their best releases to date, fusing those old slacker sentiments with bright, noisy, brash but polished production". The band are still keen to share experiences of "getting loose and bagging the system" but there are "sentiments of the heart" too. We gave it four stars and Album of The Week.

Jessica Says  Do With Me What U Will (Chapter Music)

Her first album since her major accident in 2010, Do With Me What U Will evokes "theatrical minimalism" and "an array of vintage and contemporary sounds". Vocally, you can hear elements of Kate Bush or Lady Gaga, and "the songwriting displays an audacity and strong sense of identity". We gave it four stars.

The Mountain Goats — Goths (Remote Control)

With a "comfy west coast jazz feel", Goths is a dedication to the '80s Goth scene — "Has the silly season begun already?" With "gentle tones and cosy arrangements", it signposts the band's move into "an increasingly mature, reflective direction". There's a "a sickly odour of nostalgia" on some of the songs, too. We gave it three stars.
