The Jezabels — Synthia (MGM)

Music that "an epic '80s sound" and "isn't just about boys and guitars, but also moves and sways", Synthia is "ten-track trip" with an "undeniable gendered edge". Singles like "Come Alive and Pleasure Drive have just the right amount of space to draw you away from what you're doing and towards a speaker, but there's plenty more here to warrant some dedicated listening time rather than a 'set and forget' approach". We gave it four stars.

Henry Wagons — After What I Did Last Night… (ABC/Universal)

Inspired by his spiritual home of Nashville, it's clear "Nashville is an idea as much as an actual location". He recasts country traditions in Head Or Heart, ponders the hangover regret in Cold Burger, Cold Fries which balance out the "truly tender" hopes of fatherhood in As Long As I Breathe. We gave it four stars.

Various Artists — Good For You (Milk! Records)

Milk is good for you, especially when it spawns "a fun and inclusive package by a group of friends favouring community over commercialism". The label's "vibrant roster" boasts Barnett's Three Packs A Day, "a paean to every student's saviour — two-minute noodles rather than ciggies", while Jen Cloher goes "early-'90s Aussie indie" with Famously Monogamous. "Perhaps you can have it all," our reviewer concludes. We gave it four stars.
