"It hurt like hell."

One half of Melbourne duo This Way North, singer Leisha Jungalwalla was rushed to hospital in WA last week after being stabbed by a stingray.

While on tour in the state promoting their new EP, Vol. 2, the musician took some time off at Cervantes beach, where she stepped into a rock pool and was stung by a camouflaged stingray.

Jungalwalla said she managed to climb up the rocks and over to nearby restaurant where an ambulance was called.

"The local hospital staff were second to none, and whilst it hurt like hell, I've now been nicknamed Stingray which will get a lot of mileage if I ever decide to join a bikie club or a metal rock band,” Jungalwalla said.

The incident happened during a couple of days off in the state, and a result, no shows had to be cancelled.

This Way North's Australian tour continues next month in Adelaide. Check out theGuide for more details.
