After much speculation, UK legends The Rolling Stones have officially announced details for new album, Blue & Lonesome, the group's first studio record in over a decade.

The 25th album from the Stones, set for release on 2 December, is to be entirely blues-based and will feature a number of covers of some classic tracks.

As The Guardian reports. the album was recorded in London in December last year and will also feature "old friend" and fellow UK icon, Eric Clapton

"This album is manifest testament to the purity of their love for making music, and the blues is, for the Stones, the fountainhead of everything they do," co-producer of Blue & Lonesome, Don Was, said.

The album is the first studio offering from the Stones since 2005's A Bigger Bang.

To celebrate the news, the band have also released a new artwork of the iconic Stones lips, which has been in circulation in recent weeks.
