TheWeekend

Been busy? Here's a quick rundown on the week that was in the world of rock'n'roll music and its associated industry.

What a week it has been. Gotye continues to take a run at being the legitimate ruler of the free world, by winning every accolade that exists, a couple of deaths, a break up, a prank call, a long wait and another dose of sardonic bullshittery at the hands of our old pal SPA Confidential.

Tuesday night was the APRA Awards, which saw Gotye pick up the big three gongs for the year. Other points of interest were Yusuf Islam handing out an award, Jonathan Biggins ensuring nothing was sacred and our man on the ground's awesome spelling skills.

Mr Gotye also stayed on top of the charts in the US as his right hand lady Kimbra made an astonishing debut.

If there's one guy we like talking about more than Gotye then it's Prince and some of us are pretty sad that he's bid Australia farewell after dominating entertainment pages (and this website) for most of his stay. Want to relive it all? Well why not start with this story and scroll down to the bottom to see theMusic.com.au's full coverage of the Royal Visit.

Hmm, what else happened this week?

A rich man likes Tassie's Falls Festival enough to keep it afloat.

Channel Ten announced they'd not only have artists perform but also get them talking about current affaris.

Joel Madden got tongues well and truly wagging with his dissing of The Voice.

Prince got pranked.

Prince pranked us.

Veritable rivers of stoner tears were shed with the news that the world's brownest band Ween had broken up after 28 years.

The legendary Doc Watson bid us farewell at the age of 89.

We got a look inside the new Xavier Rudd record courtesy of the man himself.

If you have a need for some new musical delicacies then Sick Tunes has you covered again.

And SPA Confidential got some inside information about Facebook's future plans. Well, either that or some really good crack cocaine.
