The lauded live venue will welcome the city's vibrant zine and comics community next weekend
Beloved live venue The Zoo will wrap its arms around the city's vibrant zine and comics community this month when it welcomes the inaugural Brisbane Convention Of Alternative Press (BCAP).
Embracing the scene's resolutely DIY philosophy, the venue will transform into a Sunday-afternoon market space next weekend, welcoming an array of local zine and comics creators selling their wares.
At 5pm, entry switches from gold-coin donation to $5, but it's all to support a vital part of the city's creative fabric, so don't be stingy just because you might be late, not least of all because the event will feature live performances from Mutanteer Premium and Amaringo, so you're sorted for tunes as well as good company.
It's not just printed work that will be highlighted at BCAP, with creators being encouraged to bring companion works such as paintings, sculptures, toys, patches and hand-made objects. Additionally, there will be opportunity to chat with some of Brissy's best alt-press makers at "Panel Talk At The Bar", and participants have been invited to dig into their collections and bring along their old and obscure back issues of alt-comics and zines.
